Intro to Specialty Brush Creation in Procreate

This short intro will give you an overview of the class.

Lesson 1: Overview, Objectives and Our First Brush

In this lesson, I will show you the objectives for class and explain why I am always creating brushes. I will walk you through creating the simplest brush of all and show you some of the variables I affect to create variations.

Lesson 2: Border Brush Customization

In this lesson, I will break down the complete process of creating your own custom border brushes. This video is about creating a simple border and I show you everything from creating the source file, to importing it into Procreate, and finally, adjusting settings. Knowing how to adjust brushes is very important in Procreate.

Lesson 3: Creating a Scatter Brush

In this lesson, I will explain the settings and sizing of the brushes to create a scatter brush, much like the Illustrator Scatter brushes. I will show you some of the key techniques I use and explain every step of the way. By the end of the lesson, you will have a couple of variations of scatter brushes, and you will know how to use most of the brushes in the accompanying download by duplicating the brush and simply replacing the shape.

Lesson 4: Two Methods for Texture Brushes

This is the lesson in which I teach you about creating two different texture brushes. One is created in the form of a ball and the other is made with a seamless tile. We are left with an obvious area that needs to be filled on this one and I show you how to fix that. I show you a bunch more adjustments for brushes as we work our way through this lesson.

Lesson 5: Specialty Repeating Leaf Brush

In this lesson, we will create an interesting specialty brush. This should get you thinking about other ways you can use this method! You will see me use several different techniques to create a repeating leaf for a flower stem or a fern. Throughout the process you learn much more about brushes.

Lesson 6: Making a Custom Dual Brush
