    Overview

    Intro:

    This video is the intro to Coral and Sea Brushes and Patterns. I will give you an overview of the group of lessons in this class which will take you from initial brush creation to a fully fleshed-out pattern design.

    Lesson 1:

    This lesson will show you what to aim for when constructing your initial brushes. An overview is given for our goals for this course.

    Lesson 2:

    In this lesson, we will be creating a coral tree from start to finish. You will learn how to adjust brushes, join and simplify.

    Lesson 3

    In Lesson 3, I will show you a variety of finessing techniques for finishing the coral tree. I show you methods to adjust thickness of lines, how to make alternate brushes from an original, real-time adjustments, expanding appearance, the pathfinder tools and more.

    Lesson 4

    In this lesson, you will observe as I demonstrate my process of creating a jellyfish using the blend tool. I will demonstrate real-world problem-solving and troubleshooting.

    Lesson 5

    I will demonstrate use of the white-edged brush that we create in this lesson. The techniques and reasoning for this type of brush stroke is explained.

    Lesson 6

    We will create variegated brush strokes in this lesson. We use colorization options for the brush stroke so you can see, in action, what tints, tints and shades, and hue shift will do in in the brush strokes palette.

    Lesson 7:

    This video is about arranging and fitting of elements of the pattern tile. Many techniques are covered including scatter brush settings and controlling the size, spacing, and rotation of objects, as well as use of the puppet warp tool.

    Lesson 8:

    In this video we go through the process of testing the tile several times. I will demonstrate troubleshooting techniques and fine-tune adjustments to make the pattern work. I share my methods for doing this.

    Lesson 9:

    We go through the process of testing the tile one last time to iron out any more issues, but we get it done! I will demonstrate troubleshooting techniques and fine-tune adjustments to make the pattern sparkle. I share all my secrets!
