The author will show the difference in applying the eigrp under classic formatand named format. The author will explain the formula used under both formats. In this course the student will learn about the metric calculation and how the 5 variables are used and the default the K values that are used by default. K1 and K3 are used for metric calculation by EIGRP.  The author will use lab examples in calculating the eigrp metric calculation as part of the traffic engineering.

    The author will also share important information on criteria to form EIGRP neighborship, these criteria should be met.

    1. Autonomous system number should match. (AS is a group of networks running under a single administrative control) .

    2. authentication should match (if applied). EIGRP supports MD5 authentication only.

    3. subnet mask should be the same.

    4. Hello timer- The interval in which EIGRP sends a hello message on an interface. It is 5 seconds by default. 5.

    5. Dead timer- The interval in which the neighbor will be declared dead if it is not able to send the hello packet. It is 15 seconds by default.
