  • In the course “VHDL Programming for beginners ” concepts of Hardware Description Language is covered. It includes the lectures on VHDL design units, VHDL operators, Attributes, Data Types, Data Objects, and Modeling styles. This course will help students to gain thorough knowledge of Process, case, if else, when else, with select statements, Component declaration, Component Instantiation, Test bench, Package body, Package declaration, VHDL delay models, and waveform generation codes. Modeling of Digital applications using concurrent and sequential VHDL statements is taught.

Design flow of Front end tool Xilinx 14 version is introduced, where students will be able to understand how to create a VHDL project, file, how to write a VHDL code, simulation of the design and they will be able to observe RTL schematic for the device for which code is written. Step by step execution of the VHDL code is taught through the lectures. Demonstration of various combinational and sequential digital circuits are shown using Xilinx tool.. After the completion of this course students will be able to understand the concepts of VHDL language and will be able to design and simulate digital applications with the help of front end Tool. Practical exposure of VHDL programing is the fundamental need of VLSI based industries. Prerequisite for this course is  the understanding of digital circuits.
